Using health and safety skits is a great way to learn about health and safety topics. These work great in a classroom setting to teach important things about taking good care of our bodies, getting exercise, eating right, getting enough sleep, not doing drugs, and all the other things that are a part of taking care of ourselves.
The following skits are from the book "Health Plays for School Children as Developed by Teachers in Public Schools of Greater New York" put out by the Child Health Organization of America in 1921
Having groups of children or even a whole classroom (for the bigger skits) act out these skits really helps drive home the important lessons to be learned. Children learn best with a hands-on approach and using drama and skits in a classroom setting is a great way for children to remember what you are trying to teach them.
Another important group of people who are looking for health and safety information are companies providing safety and health training for their employees.
And remember, it's never too late to learn about good health and nutrition. Some of these skits could also be done at senior centers and other adult gathering type settings.
Please submit any health related skits that you may know of so that we may share these with other teachers, community leaders and others who are interested. Thank you for your help!
